Hot Prowl Burglaries Hit Ramona

Three residential burglaries happened Wednesday night in the San Diego Country Estates area

Ramona residents should be aware of a burglar or burglars targeting homes in the San Diego Country Estates, warned San Diego sheriffs Thursday.

According to sheriffs, three hot prowl burglaries were reported in the area Wednesday night.

Victims were home in all cases, although no one has actually seen the burglars in action.

Authorities said there have been approximately one dozen hot prowl burglaries in the San Diego Country Estates area of Ramona since January 2012.

Most of these crimes have happened during the overnight hours, while residents are asleep. The suspects took small items that were easy to carry out of the homes including wallets, iPads, jewelry and purses, sheriffs said.

The suspects entered residences through unlocked doors, windows and garage doors.

Sheriffs are reminding residents to lock their doors and windows, especially at night. Also, despite the hot weather, residents should keep their windows closed as a precaution.

Anyone with information about these hot prowl burglaries is urged to contact sheriffs at (858) 565-5200 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580‐8477.
