Oceanside Garage Fire Displaces Family

Fire investigators estimate the damage at $150,000

Four adults and one child were displaced by a fire in Oceanside Monday evening.

The fire started in the Dalea Place garage at about 5:30 p.m. When fire crews arrived, the fire was well-involved and spreading to the rest of the house, according to a press release from the Oceanside Fire Department.

By the time fire fighters entered the house with hoses, the fire had spread to the attic and other rooms of the home.

A total of 19 fire personnel responded to the scene to help knock down the fire and protect the surrounding homes.

After 30 minutes of fighting the fire, crews knocked it down.

Investigators believe the fire was caused by an electrical problem in the garage.

The fire caused about $150,000 in damage and displaced five people, including one child. The home where the fire started sustained the most damage. A few surrounding homes, as well as a vehicle in the driveway were also damaged.

No one was injured in the fire, and crews were able to salvage several of the family's personal belongings.
