Toddler, Mother Found After Abduction in Pomona

The pair is believed to have been kidnapped by an attempted murder suspect.

Authorities issued an AMBER alert in Southern California Sunday morning after a toddler and his mother disappeared in Pomona.

The child and mother were found safe Sunday afternoon, authorities said. The suspect remained at large.

The alert was issued for 18-month old Alexis Rodriguez, and his mother, Consuelo Gonzales. Authorities believe they were kidnapped by the child's father, 33-year old Francisco Rodriguez.

Police said the abduction happened in Pomona at around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officers said Rodriguez also is wanted for the attempted murder of 30-year old Jose Chavez. Rodriguez tried to run over Chavez on Huntington Street south of Third Street Saturday as he drove off with the victims, Pomona police Sgt. Christian Hsu said.

Investigators said they found the vehicle, a green 1999 Ford Expedition with the California license plate number 4-F-E-B-7-4-2.

They said Rodriguez has ties to Mexico and may be heading for the border. Anyone with any information should call 909-622-1241.
