7 Arrested in Julian Pot Grow

Seven suspects were arrested early Wednesday morning in connection with a marijuana growing operation out of Julian, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.

The suspects were arrested during a traffic stop in the 700 block of Ramona Drive in Julian around 1:30 a.m. When deputies searched two vehicles occupied by the suspects, they found marijuana and equipment used to grow pot in the cars.

Investigators say the suspects were allegedly in the process of dismantling and moving the equipment from a nearby house.

When deputies searched the house, they discovered more marijuana growing equipment, 25 pot plants, a firearm and ammunition.

The suspects arrested in the bust range in age from 19 to 29 years old. Deputies say the suspects are Kevin Chhum, 19; Jonathan Castaneda, 21; Eric Tijerina, 24; Adlai Pacificar, 25; Sarat Sek, 28; Dara Seng, 29; and Suzanne Sisomphone, 29.

All seven suspects were booked on charges of cultivating marijuana. Sek was also charged with a felon possession of a firearm.

They’re all scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

Deputies say the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed down the line.
