A motorcyclist who drifted across the double yellow lines on State Route 94, fatally crashing into a truck-tractor vehicle, has been identified.
Charles Valdiez, 56, was riding his 2004 Harley Davidson westbound on SR-94 east of Dulzura at approximately 12:17 p.m. Tuesday when the crash happened. The location is southeast of the City of San Diego, south of Jamul and north of the U.S.-Mexico Border.
Valdiez allowed his motorcycle to drift across the double yellow lines, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Kevin Pearlstein.
He struck the front of a 2016 International truck-tractor combination vehicle in the other lane, Pearlstein said. The vehicle was driven by a 30-year-old man from San Diego.
The impact of the crash sent Valdiez flying off the motorcycle. He died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
The 30-year-old driver was uninjured.
One lane was shut down Tuesday as officials investigated.
