Sounds Like San Diego: Nov. 9

Machado brings together Matt Nathanson, Brett Dennen and others Monday

Things have been crazy busy all over San Diego, so it's kind of nice to have it slow down just a little bit as we build up to this weekend's massive music options with the San Diego Music Thing. Luckily, there are still some pretty solid choices for this Monday night if you're looking to get out. At the Belly Up, the Rob Machado Foundation hosts their 4th annual benefit with super special appearances by Matt Nathanson, Brett Dennen and others. This is a charity event, so only a few tickets are available, but the proceeds go to a good cause. Meanwhile at the Casbah, the Sloths appear. Formed at Hollywood High around 1964, the Sloths opened for the Doors, Pink Floyd and others back in the day, but until now, never recorded a full length album. Only one core member of the original band remains, but the music is still just as influential now as it could've been then had they seen a different fate. Soda Bar hosts the Nightowls, a 10-piece soul band from Austin, and Tower Bar hosts a blended punk night put together by Zeke, so you know it will punch you in the face.
