Sunday's Three Stars: Moreau does the trick

No. 1 star, Ethan Moreau, Edmonton Oilers:
Ethan Moreau discovered the perfect way to conclude a festive evening in Edmonton by scoring a hat trick to lead the Oilers over the Phoenix Coyotes. Fans were treated to a pregame ceremony to retire Glenn Anderson's No. 9, and they enjoyed Moreau's big offensive night soon thereafter. Moreau scored two even-strength goals in the first period, a tying goal and a late one that gave the hosts a two-goal edge. His final goal of the night – and 10th of the season – was an empty-netter.

No. 2 star, Ryan Smyth & Milan Hejduk, Colorado Avalanche:
Ryan Smyth and Milan Hedjuk each scored their 300th career goals, a feat accomplished in the same game by teammates only one other time in league history. Danny Gare and Ivan Boldirev of the Detroit Red Wings did it in the same game on Feb. 26, 1983. Smyth, who added two assists, scored his short-handed 13 minutes into the second period for a 3-1 lead. Hejduk, who added one assist, followed with his shortly thereafter, a power-play goal at 17:44 as Colorado rolled it up over the Calgary Flames.

No. 3 star, Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins:
Marc-Andre Fleury recorded his second shutout of the season and the 13th of his career by making 33 saves as Pittsburgh continued to hunker down on defense to try to turn things around during a 3-0 win over the New York Rangers.
