Switchfoot Hit on All-Star Sunday

We told you about Major League Baseball's three free blockbuster concerts at Embarcadero Marina Park South on Friday and Saturday leading up to MLB’s 2016 All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 12 -- and hope you snagged tickets early, since they're currently sold out. However, if you struck out, don't fret: They're not the only shows in town.

If you remember correctly, we also reported that the MLB All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game hits Petco Park on Sunday, July 10, and will feature enough big names to help you forget about those pesky three concerts.

Famous figures scheduled to play include athletes such as former Chargers quarterback Drew Brees, U.S. Soccer star (and current San Diegan) Landon Donovan, and former Padres players Trevor Hoffman, Rollie Fingers, and Ozzie Smith; actors Mark-Paul Gosselaar ("Saved By the Bell), Jamie Foxx ("Ray"), J.K. Simmons ("Whiplash"), Terry Crews ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine"), and "Saturday Night Live" star (and San Diego native) Kyle Mooney; and musicians Pete Wentz (bassist in Fall Out Boy) and Tim Foreman (bassist in hometown alt-rock heroes Switchfoot); and more. We're wondering which bases those bassists are going to be playing (thank you, we'll be here all night).

Foreman and Co. recently made news by performing a record-release show onboard the Inspiration Hornblower just this past Tuesday night in advance of their 10th studio album's ("Where the Light Shines Through") official release tomorrow, July 8. But the Grammy Award-winning band are just getting started. They've also made headlines recently when they announced their 12th annual Switchfoot Bro-Am charity festival, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 9, at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas -- yup, the day before the Legends & Celebrity Softball Game. Aside from its namesake band, American Authors, Parachute, Josh Garrels, Brynn Elliott and more acts will perform at this year's Bro-Am shindig. Did we mention it's free? It's free! Looks like the Switchfoot guys are going to have quite some jam-packed calendars over the next few days -- swing for the fences, lads!
