SoundDiego's Best Moments of 2017

We take a look back at some of our most memorable moments of the year

As 2017 nears its end, we take a look back at some of our most memorable moments of the year -- from stolen guitars to listicle advisories and ... aliens?

8 Things Not to Do at a Show: To get your year going, we gave you an important guidebook for making it through your 2017 concert experiences unscathed and a little more well liked. Here's to remembering what not to do at a show in 2018.

Report: Slightly Stoopid Hash Out High-Minded Scheme: Who can forget Slightly Stoopid's slightly stupid idea to press their songs onto a record made of hash? Wait, what was I saying? What year is it?

The Grizzly Business of Touring Europe: SoundDiego contributor Matthew Burke went on a European tour with his band Grizzly Business, so we asked him about the ups and downs and the almost-having-to-turn-arounds. It's a good starting point for bands looking to tour Europe in 2018.

Ice Cube Calls Chargers San Diego's Trash: I mean, as it turns out, he's not really wrong. That being said, the Raiders are still worse.

The SoundDiego Coachella Survival Guide: These might seem like no-brainers, but Coachella does seem to leave everyone a little more brain dead each year. Revisit this survival guide for a little refresher, because April will be here before you know it.

Swami Gets Stolen Guitar Back: Just when you thought Rocket From the Crypt/Hot Snakes' "Swami" John Reis couldn't get any more badass, he sets up a sting to exact a little vigilante justice on the tweakers who stole his guitar. He's practically a Tarantino character.

Casbah Sells a Piece of SD Music History: It was a sad day when Tim Mays decided to part ways with Casbah's storied pool table -- the same one on which he and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder staked the venue's ownership. At least it got a good home.

8 of SD's Best Pop/Rock Albums of 2017 (So Far): Something tells me we should extend this mid-year list now that we're approaching 2018 -- oh wait, we kinda already did

Tom DeLonge's Alien Academy: Yep, 2017 was officially the year that Blink-182 co-founder Tom DeLonge announced the formation of alien Hogwarts or something. We're still not entirely sure, but it involves spaceships and government conspiracies and a lot of fundraising. He's sure come a long way since "Aliens Exist," but you know what they say, "Shoot for the stars and you'll land on a moon made of cheese."

Well, there it is, this year is all but in the bag. Thanks for being with us every step of the way, and we'll see you on the other side.
