The subject of a high-speed pursuit through multiple National City freeways crashed into three cars, injuring several and trapping one, police said.

Police attempted to pull over the driver of a dark-colored jeep after he was seen running a red light near 47th Street and Imperial Avenue at about 8:45 p.m., according to the San Diego Police Department.

The driver reportedly fled and drove onto the northbound I-805, hitting speeds of over 100 MPH. He wove through all lanes and the shoulder of the freeway.

Police followed the driver onto the eastbound SR-94, the southbound SR-125, the westbound 54 and back onto the northbound I-805.

When he exited the northbound I-805 at Plaza Boulevard, the driver collided at a high speed into three cars, police said.

Medics responded to five injuries. One person was trapped when emergency personnel responded.

The suspect allegedly told police he fled because there was a warrant out for his arrest. He now faces charges of evading a police officer.

CHP shut down the northbound I-805 Plaza Boulevard off ramp. It was reopened by 11 p.m.
