The families and friends of two men killed in deputy-involved shootings demonstrated near where the shooting took place.
The 30 plus protestors marched the streets to raise awareness and garner support for the surviving families of Sergio Weick and Jonathan Coronel, while condemning the actions of the deputies they claim were responsible for their deaths.
The pain is still very fresh for family members. In August of 2016, Sergio Weick was shot and killed. He had a warrant for his arrest and at the time was fleeing sheriff's deputies who believed he had a gun.
"He was my right hand, he was my nurse, my companion, my everything," Weick’s mother Cruz said.
In July of 2017, Jonathon Coronel was wanted for his suspected involvement in the deadly shooting of a teenager, and an attempted murder of a rival gang member.
He fled deputies on foot and was shot more than a dozen times.
"I'm very upset, you know? It's sad because my daughter won't grow up with daddy," Coronel’s girlfriend Karen Nunez said.

In both cases the District Attorney found the shootings justified. Unsatisfied families of both men are suing. Both civil cases are pending in federal court, according to the families.
"Of course they are going to find it justified because if not then it costs the city, the county, the state," Weick’s Aunt Maria Hoyt said. "We're not going to take it lying down anymore. It's not right. We’re not going to allow them to bully us, terrorize us and kill.”
Wednesday’s march wasn’t so much an extension of the lawsuits, but the anger and hurt that won't go away.
"The way that the DA talked about Jonathon. Like he was an animal,” Nunez said.
NBC 7 reached out to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department for comment but did not get hear back.
