A fire burned in the East County Friday morning, on the campus of Grossmont College.

San Diego County Sheriff's deputies said about a dozen were evacuated on Clifford Heights Road just as a precaution.

No structures were damaged, according to Heartland Fire.

Video from a local television news helicopter showed a plane making drops of fire retardant.

An @nbcsandiego Twitter follower sent video of the brush fire from his vantage point.

According to Heartland Fire, as of 12:15 p.m. they were beginning to release fire engines. Crews have a good handle on the fire that burned between 12 and 15 acres.

Cal Fire sent a Twitter update confirming that they are assisting Heartland with a brush fire at Highway 125 and Grossmont. Lakeside Fire also Tweeted that they sent a brush engine and battalion chief to assist.
