Man Shot to Death Inside Car

The victim's body was discovered inside a parked car in the Bay Terraces area

The body of a man who was shot to death was discovered inside a vehicle in San Diego’s Bay Terraces neighborhood Sunday morning, police confirmed.

According to SDPD officer Dan Lasher, a reporting party called police at around 8:15 a.m. after spotting the body of man down inside a car parked near an apartment complex in the 300 block of South Meadowbrook Drive and Brookhaven Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers said they discovered an adult male slumped over in the front seat of a parked vehicle. The victim was not responsive and had suffered several gunshot wounds.

Homicide detectives were called to the scene to  investigate.

Meanwhile, NBC 7 crews at the scene observed several bullet holes on the vehicle. More than two dozen people in the neighborhood near Skyline told NBC 7 they knew the victim, but they declined to speak on camera.

A neighbor who lives across the street from where the body was found said she heard gunshots in the area last night.

One of the victim’s close friends said the victim was 30 years old. She said he was on her way to her house, but never showed up.

The friend told NBC 7 that the victim was “cool, loyal and had lots of friends.”

The shooting victim has not formally been identified by authorities yet.

The investigation into the shooting death is ongoing, and detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293.
