2nd Suspect In Baby Sitter/Molest Case Busted

A man accused of working with baby sitters who brought him children so he could molest them has been captured in Brazil and returned to the United States to face charges.

Jared Yaffe was caught Monday by Brazilian federal police and brought back to the United States on Tuesday, according to the U.S. State Department. Yaffe was profiled on the TV show "America's Most Wanted" last month. He was believed to be in Romania before he was found in Brazil.

Authorities said Yaffe ran a child pornography ring by contracting with baby sitters to bring him children he eventually molested.

Yaffe is wanted in San Diego on 17 counts of child sexual assault and kidnapping. He was processed in Atlanta and was expected to arrive in California later Tuesday.

In January, authorities arrested another suspect, Aaron Zendejas. He faces several charges, including kidnapping, child molestation and child pornography. San Diego police detectives said they got a tip that Zendejas, an East County baby sitter, was molesting children in his care. Detectives said they collected evidence from a cell phone and computer belonging to Zendejas.

Last week, a judge ruled that Zendejas would stand trial on charges of kidnapping a child for Yaffe to molest.

During the investigation of Zendejas and Yaffe, detectives believed they found a third suspect, a baby sitter who goes by the name of "Nick" who may have provided children for Yaffe to victimize.  "Nick" is described as approximately 18-years-old, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slim build.

Police are asking anyone who may have used "Nick" or Zendejas as a baby sitter to call police. Anyone with information about "Nick's" whereabouts or information concerning the case is asked to contact the San Diego police at 619-531-2000. Tips can be called in anonymously to San Diego County-Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
