Who says America doesn't love soccer?
All eyes in North Park turned to a giant jumbotron Sunday as hundreds gathered to watch Germany face off against Argentina in the final match of the World Cup.
Pubs, restaurants and bars opened their doors as 30th Street was closed between University and Lincoln streets to make way for the party.
But the 11-foot-by-20-foot big screen served as the focal point.
"I think people are a little shocked to see this giant jumbotron in the street. Kinda try to do something like you see in Brazil," said organizer Joseph Balestrieri.
Despite Team USA's defeat in the knockout round, San Diegans were still happy to root for a back-up team in the final.
Many were excited to see the World Cup fever coming to the area at last.

"It was awesome. We waited far too long for this. It's been since the 90s," said Jason Serres.
Organizers recommended that guests come early and bring their own lawn chairs to the all-ages, free event. One man set up early with an entire couch.
However, it's not all soccer chants and fun in the sun. Medics have been called to the area for multiple reports of people becoming overheated.
