Sounds Like San Diego: May 25

Have you looked through this weekend's concerts and things to do? I mean, this is one pretty fantastic Memorial Day weekend ahead, even if it's kicking off with some light rain.

On Friday, one of my favorite touring bands returns to the Casbah. Though Margot & the Nuclear So and So's have gone through some lineup changes, backbone/primary songwriter Richard Edwards is writing some of the best music of his career, as evidenced by this year's spectacular album, Rot Gut, Domestic. With Dinosaur Feathers and Whispertown opening, this is a solid Friday night lineup.

Still, we hope for clear skies all around San Diego, because the Beach Boys and Foster the People take over Cricket Wireless Amphitheater in Chula Vista. If you saw the two bands perform at the Grammys, you know you're in for a nostalgic treat.

At Winston's in Ocean Beach, locals the Heavy Guilt and the Blackout Party duke it out for local supremacy with alternating sets throughout the night, and over at the Propagandist, Cuckoo Chaos leads a hefty lineup that is sure to draw the hipsters on a downtown invasion. There are really great options tonight and throughout the weekend, so enjoy all of those happy hours and barbecues, but remember to save your energy for some great live music.
