It’s the only day of the year you can cross the Coronado Bridge on foot.
Thousands laced up their sneakers and hit the road for the Navy's Bay Bridge Run/Walk Sunday.
The race, now in its 23rd year, started at 8 a.m. in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter and finished at Tidelands Park in Coronado, according to Navy Region Southwest.
Navy Region Southwest’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation Program will use proceeds from the event for quality-of-life programs at San Diego Navy installations.
