A Vista high school student was arrested this week for allegedly bringing a ghost gun to school with him, authorities reported Thursday.

NBC 7’s Dave Summers has the latest in the saga at Vista High School stemming from an alleged locker room assault involving football players.

Vista High’s principal announced Thursday the cancelation of Friday’s after-school activities and the cancelation of Friday’s varsity football game following the protests on campus.

NBC 7’s Dave Summers attended an evening protests outside of the school where students and parents called on school leaders to come down harder on students involved in the incident.

Deputies are investigating a locker room altercation, and a shooting threat made against the campus.

Tempers boiled over Wednesday as Vista High School students rallied in response to an alleged locker room assault involving football players that led to suspensions and discipline for some coaches, and was followed by a school shooting threat made by a player accused in the assault.

Mixed reaction by families of Vista High School parents to the alleged incident in the football locker room. And, Chula Vista moves closer to banning the sale of flavored tobacco products. Plus, the city is moving forward with the Midway Rising project.

Players and a coach in Vista High School’s football program are facing discipline after alleged locker room incidents involving a freshman player prompted investigations by the school district and law enforcement.

NBC 7’s Dave Summers spoke to the district superintendent about the investigation, and heard concerns from parents.

A coach for the freshman football team was fired, according to Vista Unified School District Superintendent Matt Doyle

A parent meeting for the families of football players is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday in the school library, during which more details will be provided and questions about the allegations are expected to be answered.
