Belly Up to Solana Beach This Winter!

If you haven’t noticed the newly announced shows at the Belly Up Tavern, you could be missing out. Over the years, the famous club hidden away in Solana Beach has given concertgoers a steady stream of local and national artists that appeal to lovers of live music.

Understanding that theconcert industry is struggling, the Belly Up is booking musicians who are still in demand but can’t attract attendance numbers to fill up the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre or the Valley View Casino Center (formerly Sports Arena). Basically, they're keeping artists working and fans happy.

Last week’s big show announcement was about San Diego’s own Jason Mraz, who will be performing with support from Toca Rivera on Dec. 3.  Of course, the venue’s capacity of 500 will undoubtedly disappoint Mraz’s fans who can't get tickts, but this intimate show will benefit Mr A-Z's favorite’s charity, the Jason Mraz Foundation. Community building is a core part of the appeal of the Belly Up’s, which frequently throws fundraiser for a child or gives a local band a stage to further its career.

The remaining November shows alone are great, too, with sets by Chris Isaak (sold out), Timothy B. Schmidt (the Eagles) and B.B. King, among others. I picked out a few I feel are standouts and thank the Belly Up for offering quality shows during a typically quiet period San Diego.
