For anyone who may have been on vacation this week, Friday might actually signal the beginning of the end of fun, but you still have a whole weekend to get down and San Diego has plenty of options to stave off that bummer for at least a few more days. At Soda Bar, it's a local powerhouse doubleheader with Mrs. Magician and the Creepy Creeps. At the Casbah, put on your swing dance duds for the rockabilly ruckus that is Big Sandy & His Flyrite Boys, who I believe hold the record for most shows played at the Casbah of any band. Cherry Glazerr is sure to set the Irenic on fire (not literally), Brian Setzer's show is sold out at the Belly Up and the Broken Stems rock the Merrow. For an extra special good feeling, head to Blonde where they're raising money to benefit the Water Protectors of Standing Rock, who are still camped fighting the now illegal construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline that continues to this day. Also of note, Josh Damigo plays his annual birthday bash at Lestat's, and it could be awhile until we see the Ventura resident back in town for some time -- so don't miss your chance.
