San Diego Music Awards Submission Deadline Looms

Get on it: The deadline to submit your music for consideration at the 2017 SDMAs looms

Attention all San Diego procrastinators: The deadline to submit your music for 2017 San Diego Music Award consideration is Saturday, Dec. 31!

We know, we know, you’ll get to it. But for real, put the Scooby Snacks down, grab your bike helmet and head down to your local post office with a copy of your latest masterpiece so it’ll be postmarked by the deadline.

Remember though: Only albums released between July 1, 2015 and Dec. 31, 2016 are eligible for consideration. Thanks to the postponement of 2016’s awards show that we wrote about a few months back, they increased the eligibility time period a whole six months -- and that just may work in your favor, homeslice! We’d hate to see that prog-rock opus (with all those numbered movements) gather dust in your mom’s basement without even getting at the very least considered for an SDMA. So get to it.

Mail all CDs to: San Diego Music Awards, 4876 Mount Royal Place, San Diego, CA 92117. Or simply email a link to your digital files (do not attach the mp3s to your email, thank you very much) to sandiegomusicawards@gmail.com. It simply couldn’t be easier. If you don’t use the computer because it’s the work of the devil, the post office awaits.

So what’s next after you submit your latest and greatest record to the academy? The San Diego Music Awards will announce the nominees on Jan. 16, 2017, along with the performers for the March 21 awards show at House of Blues. Voting will then open to the general public from Jan. 16 through Feb. 26.

Better start preparing those acceptance speeches!
