The Padres have picked up their option on Brian Giles.
The personnel move means that the Granite Hills High alum will be back in right field at Petco Park in 2009.
Giles, who will make $9 million for the season, led the Padres in batting average, doubles and walks last season. He also hit 12 home runs and drove in 63 runs.
