It's a situation every woman fears: You're alone and suddenly you're being attacked.
Odds are it will never happen, but if it does, you need to know how to handle it. That's where Penny Thomas comes in.
Penny is a three-time world Jiu Jitsu champion. She's also a self-defense instructor who wants to make sure women know how to protect themselves. One study shows nearly 80 percent of all attack victims are unharmed if they offer resistance to their attackers. So Thomas is offering a pair of free self-defense classes, for women only, on April 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on April 11 from 10 a.m. to noon.
I was able to learn a few things from Penny, and believe me, this girl can show you effective ways to stay safe. My body is still sore from being thrown around!
