Padres Get Emotional Win

It would have been a perfect night if Tommy Medica's go ahead hit in the bottom of the eighth inning had gone through the 5.5 hole that Tony Gwynn made famous, but his bloop single to center did just fine. Everth Cabrera came around to score to give the Padres a 2-1 lead over the Mariners.

It was fitting that Huston Street got his 19th save on a night when the most famous #19 in Padres history was honored. Andrew Cashner pitched seven innings, allowing just one run. Joaquin Benoit (3-0) got the win in relief.

The team finish up the two-game series Thursday afternoon at Petco Park.
