It's a Bow-and-Arrow Event

Today, June 16, the competition for the U.S.’s top archers is going strong at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista.  The 2009 U.S. Youth World Team, composed of the 12 best archers in the U.S., is holding an exciting simulation of the Youth World Championship.

The event will be part of the 3rd Junior Dream Team Camp of 2009, which includes 24 or the most auspicious archers in the U.S. under 18-years-old.

These impressive little bowmen, ranging in ages from 14 to 18, will shoot distances up to 70 meters at a target the size of an apple.  During the match, the competitors will shoot 12 arrows against their opponents in order to impress spectators and win a spot in the upcoming Youth World Championships in Ogden, Utah.

The event begins today at 9 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m.
