Don't Blink, Pads Win Six Straight

Newest team mate Tony Gwynn, Jr. was on hand Thursday to see the Padres take the early lead against Tim Lincecum and the Giants on the dunker by David Eckstein.

The Giants tied it in the 6th inning with Aaron Rowand taking Kevin Correia deep. It was the only mistake Correia really made.

After Brian Wilson hit Eckstein to force in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth, it was Scott Hairston's single that won it 3-2 with Tony Gwynn, Jr. scoring the winning run. He had walked as a pinch hitter.

Gwynn Jr., an outfielder, was obtained for outfielder Jody Gerut. The younger Gwynn was en route from Portland, Ore., where his Triple-A Nashville team was playing a series against the Padres' affiliate, the Beavers. He arrived at Petco Park about 10 minutes before Thursday night's game against the San Francisco Giants.

Gwynn Jr. wore No. 18. His father's No. 19 is retired.

The Pads winning streak stands at six.
