Chargers Fans Crushed by Playoff Loss

Chargers fans disappointed over loss to Steelers

The sigh of disappointment from Chargers fans was heard all over San Diego Sunday night.  Fans were hopeful this would be the year the Chargers would go all the way but the optimism gave way to long faces as the season came to an end for San Diego.

At half time fans watching the game at Dirty Birds Bar and Grill on Mission Boulevard in Pacific Beach were still holding out hope.

"We got this in the bag.  Fourth quarter we're good to go.  I'm telling you fifteen minutes that's all we need," said Chargers fan Tedd Krupp.

"I'm scared out of my mind but we'll get it done," said Chargers fan Tom Cassidy.

The yells and cheers could be heard inside and out.  And in the sea of Chargers fans inside the local beach hangout Brad Harmon was the one lone Steelers fan watching the game.

"I think I'm out numbered right now but it looked like [the score was] 21 to 10 so we’re doing pretty good," Harmon said.

Into the fourth quarter confidence of Chargers fans turned into desperation.  Chargers fan Erin Cavanaugh said what was on the minds of many fans still clinging to hope, “There’s still a few minutes left.  Maybe a miracle?"

But not this time and the only person left celebrating at Dirty Birds was Steelers fan Brad Harmon.

"San Diego gave a good game, but their luck has run out," Harmon said.

The Chargers lost the game, but not the loyalty of fans still proud to be wearing blue and gold.

"It's the playoffs.  We're proud to be here and we move on," said Chargers fan Tom Cassidy.

Sara Wright is hopeful next year will be better, especially when there’s a stadium at stake.

"Bolts you owe San Diego. You owe us Chargers.  We have your back.  You prove something to us.  Prove to us you can make it.  If you can make it then we'll buy you a new stadium," Wright said.
