Three people were arrested Monday in a shooting that injured three women Sunday outside of an Oceanside clothing store, police said.
The shooting happened around 4 p.m. on the sidewalk in front of Oceanside Localwear near Staters Bros. Markets on Mission Avenue and El Camino Real, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
The women were in front of the store listening to music when two men approached and shot them. The suspects then fled in a car.
Engelica Camiro, a waitress at Fiest Mexicana, a few doors down from the shooting, was on a break and getting ice cream with her nephews when the shooting happened.
"It was kind of scary because things never happen here," she said. The only thing she thought of was to get her nephews to safety, she said.
Camiro ran back inside the restaurant and told her customers to get down and get away from the window.
The victims were taken to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries, Lt. Travis Norton said.
On Tuesday, Oceanside police said they developed information leading to the arrests of three suspects.
Anthony Tua, 19, of Oceanside and Deshune Bryant, 18, of Fallbrook were arrested, police said. A 16 year old was also arrested but not identified due to the suspect's age.
Investigators said the victims were not the intended targets of the shooting, which appears to be gang motivated.
