California Highway Patrol reported 340 total collisons, and 218 before 4 p.m. alone, in San Diego County on Friday.
The most accidents occurred between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
On a normal day with good weather, the rate of crashes usually lies between 50 and 75.
