A fire in San Diego's Balboa Park prompted a response from city firefighters on Thursday.

The blaze was located near the 2600 block of Golf Course Drive near Florida Canyon Road, officials said.

Only a single alarm for the fire been called, and it was snuffed out by 2:15 p.m. Officials said that drivers should avoid the area for several hours while they mopped up.

Seven fire trucks and a pair of helicopters were sent to help fight the fire, authorities said.
