Rock β€˜n' Roll Marathon Road Closures

Expect several road closures and delays in San Diego Sunday morning

There will be several road closures and delays in San Diego Sunday due to the 26.2-mile Rock β€˜n’ Roll Marathon, so plan accordingly.

Major freeway closures include northbound State Route 163 between Interstate 805 and the end of the freeway downtown. Also, expect closures on northbound SR-163 to University Avenue and northbound SR-163 to Interstate 8.

There will also be several delays on westbound I-8, including closure of the off-ramp to Hotel Circle and the connector ramps from I-805.

The off-ramp to 10th Avenue from southbound Interstate 5 will be closed, as well as the on-ramp from SeaWorld Drive onto northbound I-5.

Additional major road closures include 6th Avenue from Hawthorn Street to University Avenue, 11th Avenue from Broadway to G Street, and Market Street from 4th Avenue to 5th Avenue.

Northbound Pacific Highway from Taylor Street to Tecolote Road will also be closed for a portion of the day, as well as Morena Boulevard from Asher Street to Balboa Avenue.

Most road closures start around 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. The roads, for the most part, are expected to reopen by noon.

As a reminder, the Rock β€˜n’ Roll Marathon begins on the west side of Balboa Park along 6th Avenue at 6:15 a.m.

More than 30,000 runners are expected to participate this year.
