Pedestrian Killed in San Ysidro

One person is dead after being hit by a car in San Ysidro Wednesday night, San Diego Police (SDPD) confirmed.

It happened at 8:56 p.m. on the 2000 block of Dairy Mart Road, near W. San Ysidro Boulevard, just north of the Interstate 5.

Police say the victim died at the scene.

Witness tell NBC 7, the victim was a woman in her 70s that they recognized from their neighborhood.

But investigators have not identified the victim yet.

According to witnesses, the victim was crossing Dairy Mart Road between the cars when she was hit by a car going northbound.

Witnesses say the victim was thrown about 30 feet into the air.

The driver of the car did not leave the scene, police said.

No other information was immediately available.
