National City police have blocked off E. 18th Street between Prospect Street and Euclid Avenue as they investigate the discovery of a man's body.
Firefighters called police officers at 7:30 a.m. to investigate a suspicious death.
Investigators have a potential identity for the man described as in his mid-50s who was found with facial injuries.
Detectives were canvassing the neighbors asking for any information regarding the man's death, a spokesperson said.
Lt. Alex Hernandez said it was not a shooting and that there was no risk for people living in the neighborhood.
