A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Chula Vista Friday night as he fled from police officers who were trying to pull him over for speeding, officials said.
That man has been identified as 42-year-old Carlos Antonio Sanchez of Chula Vista.
At around 9:40 p.m., officers with the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) tried to stop the motorcyclist on Hunte Parkway because he was driving on the wrong side of the road.
CVPD Lt. John Autolino said the man refused to stop and instead continued riding his motorcycle westbound on Otay Lakes Road at a high rate of speed.
As the motorcyclist approached southbound State Route 125 overpass, he lost control and crashed into the back of a truck in traffic. Autolino said the man died at the scene.
No one else was hurt.
Westbound Otay Lakes Road was shut down to traffic for several hours from SR-125 following the deadly collision.
