Man Tries to Kidnap Ex-Girlfriend, Bystanders Step in: PD

Witnesses to an attempted kidnapping stepped in to save a woman being pushed into a her ex-boyfriend’s car, according to the San Diego County Crime Stoppers.

National City police investigators are searching for Daniel Aguirre, 19, the lead suspect in the kidnapping attempt.

Police say the evening of July 1, Aguirre drove up alongside his ex-girlfriend as she walked in the 2200 block of Highland Avenue in National City.

The suspect got out, grabbed the woman, punched her in the face, and started to drag her toward his car, according to investigators,

Seeing in the woman in distress, many bystanders intervened and helped get the woman away from Aguirre, Crime Stoppers says.

That’s when Aguirre fled in his vehicle. While the car has been recovered by police, Aguirre is still at large.

He is described as a Hispanic man standing 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighing 135 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, and a tattoo of “M Street” sits on his right arm. Officials say he is known to frequent the Mid-City area.
