A man was killed Saturday night when he was hit on a highway in Oceanside, according to the Oceanside Fire Department.
The collision happened shortly before 10 p.m. on westbound state Route 76 at Douglas Drive, the agency said.
The man was crossing against a red light when a vehicle entered the intersection, striking the pedestrian, officers said.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and waited for police to arrive.
Westbound 76 was shut down and all traffic diverted to Douglas Drive.
The man's identity has not been released pending notification of kin.
Oceanside police said alcohol and speed were not believed to be factors in the collision.
