In the spirit of giving this holiday season, make a blind date with Black Cat Bar on Friday, Jan. 12, to support the recovery of local musician Anders Larsson.
Larsson, who plays (or has played) with Gary Wilson, R. Stevie Moore and Javier Escovedo (of the Zeros), has undergone two open heart surgeries this year, the most recent of which meant having to have an infected valve removed. While he's currently healing at home with loved ones, there's still quite a long journey ahead of him.
To help him through the healing process, Goldettes singer Tara Jene Reis has organized a benefit concert on Jan. 12 at Black Cat Bar featuring Gary Wilson & the Blind Dates, Beehive & the Barracudas, Doc Hammer and Westside Inflection. All proceeds from the door and raffle will be donated to Larsson's recovery.
Larsson has been a respected veteran of the San Diego music scene for years, and this is a chance for the music community to give back -- and what better time than during the holiday season.
Tickets are $12 at the door, and you can join the event here to get more details.

He now fronts the Lulls, plays lead guitar in LA band Velvet and makes music on his own when he's not writing.
