A fire on the balcony of an apartment in East Village sent people running from their homes Friday night.
The fire sparked on the third-floor balcony at a complex on Imperial Avenue and 16th Street at around 8:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Firefighter feared the flames could spread from the balcony to other units, or even worse, another building. The complex is attached to one of the newest buildings in the East Village, a residential high-rise called The Pinnacle.
Luckily, firefighters were able to get to the fire quickly and put out the flames in just minutes.
SDFD could not confirm the cause.
βI heard the fire trucks and I glanced out the window and I saw flames coming out of the building,β witness Trish Rigoli said. βThey seemed to be really high. It looked like one of the units was on fire.β
No one was displaced.
