FBI agents launched a raid Thursday on the offices of San Diego-based NexBio.
At approximately 8 a.m. Thursday FBI agents and agents working with the Office of Inspector General in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services arrived at NexBio's Sorrento Valley office to serve a federal search warrant in support of an ongoing criminal investigation officials said.
The search warrant has been sealed and investigators will not reveal the reason for the raid an FBI spokesperson said.
"It is an ongoing investigation involving violations of criminal law," said Darrell Foxworth with San Diego FBI. "It’s not a terrorist investigation or a violent crime investigation."
The office at 10665 Sorrento Valley Road is believed to be the only location involved in the investigation.
Employees were cooperative and no arrests have been made Foxworth said.
Twenty to 25 agents were expected to be at the company for most of the day.

NexBio has been based in San Diego since it began in 2003.
Its lead product, Fludase, is in clinical development as a first-in-class broad-spectrum prophylactic and therapeutic agent for Influenza-Like Illness according to the company’s website.
The Office of Inspector General works to fight waste, fraud and abuse in Medicare, Medicaid and more than 300 other HHS programs including those within the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration.
