The Padres single-A affiliate in Lake Elsinore wants Tim Tebow to join the team.
So much so that the Storm started a Twitter campaign last week with the #TebowToTheStorm along with photoshopped pictures of the former Heisman Trophy winner pitching in a Storm uniform and ball cap.
The club even vowed to petition the Padres if it got 500 retweets.
On Monday - the threshold was broken. So now it’s your move A.J. Preller!
Tebow said recently that he wants to pursue a major league baseball career.
The funny thing is, Tebow hasn’t played organized baseball in over a decade since he was in high school.
You have to wonder if he is actually serious about this endeavor or if he is just trying to stay in the spotlight.
At this point in the season, the Padres are trying out various prospects and fringe major leaguers to see if they can have a long-term future in the team's plans.
While the idea may seem farfetched on the surface, can you imagine if Tebow ACTUALLY DID make it to the bigs? And if he did so with the Padres organization?
It would be Must-See-TV.
