A homicide investigation was launched after a woman discovered her mother's body inside a Colina Del Sol home Thursday.
A daughter was concerned when her mother wasn't answering the phone so she drove over to the home on Estrella Avenue at about 8 p.m. When she arrived, she found her mother dead, the San Diego Police Department said.
Police said the woman suffered injuries to her upper body but did not specify the type of injuries. Homicide investigators were called to look into the details surrounding the woman's death.
SDPD said there was no suspect information at this time. Officers were still working to identify any family members or relationships the 53-year-old woman may have had.
As the investigation stretched into the 10th hour, detectives appeared to be focused on the entry way to the home. Officers could be seen pointing at the door frame.
Police have not provided any other information about the death.
A wide perimeter was established for the investigation. Estrella Avenue between Polk and University avenues was blocked off with police tape.
Neighbors told NBC 7 the woman lived at the apartment with a man. Police havn't confirmed if they have questioned the man she lives with.
The neighborhood is located north of University Avenue and east of Euclid Avenue, less than a mile west of the Colina Park Golf Course.
