A man wearing headphones and walking southbound along the train tracks in Del Mar was fatally hit around 4 p.m. Friday, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The collision happened on the bluffs near 13th Street and Stratford Court.
The engineer sounded the train’s horn several times, but the man did not respond.
Traveling at approximately 50 mph and unable to stop, the train hit the man.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
