Teen Survives 200-Foot Plunge

Someone heard the injured teen’s screams from a home about 400-yards away

A 16-year-old driver survived a plunge down a 200-foot cliff Tuesday night.

Emergency crews were alerted after someone heard the teenager screaming from the bottom of a cliff along the 2500-block of La Cresta Road near Crest around 7 p.m.

A nearby resident heard the injured teen’s screams from her home about 400-yards away and called 911.

The driver was hoisted to safety on a stretcher and pulled up the hill to a waiting ambulance.

Rescuers were unable to land a helicopter because of nearby power lines.

They say the victim was combative with rescuers most likely because of a head injury.

They don't know why she went off the road but say she was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from her car.
