San Diego police are combing through missing person reports as they try to identify a woman found dead Tuesday at Bonita Cove on Mission Bay.
Lifeguards were alerted to a possible water rescue at the cove just before 10:30 a.m. at Mariners Way and West Mission Bay Drive.
When they arrived they found a woman on the shore and requested medics, officials said. The 50-60-year-old victim was face down in receding tidewater.
As of 11:06 a.m., officials said there was no rescue in progress and San Diego police were called in to handle the investigation.
There were no indications that the woman was a victim of foul play, police said.
No other information was available.
