Suspect Hits 3 Vehicles in National City, Tries to Flee

Good Samaritans detain suspect, police say

A suspect in National City hit three vehicles on Friday night and tried to flee, but later was detained by a group of good Samaritans.

National City police said the situation started after the driver hit a tow truck and continued on; the tow truck driver then followed the suspect.

That's when the suspect hit two more cars at Euclid and Division, police said.

The collisions, reported just before 8:30 p.m., possibly injured several people, fire officials said. Three people were taken to the hospital.

The area of Division and Euclid was shut down for an unknown amount of time.

After the Samaritans held the suspect down, officers responded and detained the suspect.

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the incident.
