Furniture Delivery Truck Slams Into House

The truck went through a fence and boulder before hitting the home

A homeowner in Bonita got a startling surprise on Saturday when a furniture delivery truck slammed into her house on the 3800 block of Sweetwater Road.

According to authorities, the truck was making a delivery to a different home on a hill across the street around 12:40 p.m. The parking brake was on, but the truck rolled down the hill and into the home across the way.

The truck went through a fence and hit a boulder before plowing into the structure. There was visible damage to the house.

People were home at the time of the accident.

One of the residents told NBC San Diego that the truck hit a portion of her home that contains a closet and bathroom.

She also said no one in her family was hurt by the collision.

But it was a close one.

A man who lives at the home told NBC San Diego that he was in the front yard planning to mow the lawn just moments before the accident.

When he realized the lawn mower didn’t have enough gas, he went inside to get more fuel.

Moments later, the delivery truck plowed through the yard, through the exact area where he had left the lawn mower, according to the resident.

Heartland Fire crews were able to clear the scene about 15 minutes after the collision.
