Thanksgiving Weekend DUI Arrests Up, Fatalities Down Statewide

Compared to this time last year DUI arrests were up but fatalities were down across the state over Thanksgiving weekend , according to the California Highway Patrol.

Across the state, officers arrested 940 drivers for DUI, up from 896 last year, but there were nearly half as many fatalities, 17 down from 28 in 2014.

In San Diego, DUI arrests were slightly down -  66 this year compared to 68 last year, but fatalities were up. There were two this year and none last year.

Six of the people killed werenโ€™t wearing seat belts and one was a pedestrian fatality.

The statistics are from Wednesday at 6 p.m. to Sunday at 6 a.m.
