Poway wants to increase water rates for residents.
Rising water costs, the drought and a court-ordered reduction of water supplies to this region has left many municipalities throughout the state considering rate increases.
Some are considering rationing too.
In Poway, the city council favors a tiered system that would raise consumer costs as consumption increases. City staffers are recommending the council send notices about the proposed increase to residents by June 4th for a July 21st public hearing.
