Police Investigate Deadly Hit-and-Run in Hillcrest

San Diego police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed one person Sunday evening. But they don’t have many clues to find who’s responsible.

Police discovered the victim just after 7 p.m. at University Avenue and Vermont Street in Hillcrest.

Although there were no eyewitnesses, police tell NBC 7 that the person’s injuries were consistent with being hit by a car. First responders say there was a large amount of blood at the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at Scripps Mercy Hospital. The person’s identity has not been released.

Animal Control was called for an abandoned dog found at the accident site.
