Plane Crash at Camp Pendleton

A plane has crashed at Camp Pendleton, startling drivers on Interstate 5.

The single engine Cessna crashed on its way to Montgomery Field at 5:50 p.m. There were three passengers onboard, two suffered serious injuries, the other suffered moderate injuries, FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor said.

Drivers on Interstate 5 reported seeing the crash and activity on base Saturday.  The California Highway Patrol was handling traffic control, but said there was no debris on the freeway.

An investigator says the Cessna crashed in an area called Red Beach at the Las Pulgas exit.

No other information was immediately available.
